I started as a complete beginner. Over the course of 6 years we covered a lot of ground including playing through pop and indie-rock songs, learning classic riffs, a few jazz standards and standard blues progressions. The theory definitely helped me understand the songs better, which I would have never gotten into without his help and encouragement. Also, my listening horizon has broadened a lot thanks to the recommended listening lists!

I had played classical guitar before but knew nothing about jazz. Following his methods really worked as I progressed a lot in only a couple of years (I practised hard, obviously). Since then we have been playing in a duo, gigging and performing, which is fun!
