Leeds Conservatoire Virtual Tour

Having been at Leeds Conservatoire for six years, the best thing about the place is the facilities. There are well-equipped practice rooms, spacious band rooms, and studios at professional standards. Go see for yourself! This blog will provide a bit of personal written commentary...

Unfortunately, the virtual tour isn’t working at the moment.

Reception: Waiting area with sofas and chairs, great meeting point if you are not a smoker and fancy coziness indoors while you wait. Show your ID to get in to the building (you will need one to open doors, too), or sign in as a guest and get a wristband to gain access to band rooms and studios.

Venue: 350-seater performance space used for all pathways and genres of music. You can find professional touring musicians doing concerts and masterclasses here, as well as student gigs, most notably the final year recitals in May every year.

Recital Room: Multi-functional room mainly used for smaller performances such as lunchtime recitals, and hosted for workshops and masterclasses.

Studios: Equipped with industry-standard amps, mics, and desks, they are capable of capturing a variety of sounds. Anyone is welcome to record there as long as they are accompanied by a production student. An advice would be to work with two or more people in a group as setting up and packing down may take a while!

Mac Labs: Good audio interfaces and midi keyboards. They now have a dedicated DJ suite for production students with appropriate gear like drum pads.

Practice Spaces: Almost always a piano in there, some will have guitar/bass amps too. If not, you can borrow amplifiers from the facilities hatch. Steinways available in grand piano rooms dedicated to classical students. Band rooms are of various sizes.

Study Spaces: All located on the fifth floor (it used to be the library), it has comfy chairs and tables as well as isolated pods, popular amongst business students and postgraduates.

Facilities Hatch: Most of the things you’ll need for a productive session you can find and borrow from here. Note that the studios hatch work separately – you'll need a production student with you for that one!

Library: Here you can find reading list material as well as CDs and DVDs. I especially adore the natural light – nice design!

Café:Bar : It’s in the name! Located on the second floor, it is the place to hang out and socialise.

Rooftop Bar: Almost like an alternative of the Café:Bar when it gets too busy, this is located right next to the Venue. Great place to be during concert intervals, but it is also open during normal hours.

If you have any more questions, feel free to message me! I’ll be happy to help.
